Chicago: Michigan Avenue, Uno’s Pizzeria, Wrigley Building and the Apple Store

As part of our move Lindsey and I decided to make this move a memorable one.  This meant we decided to make some cool stops on the way to our destination. Being the city people that we both are, we  decided to forgo the smaller stops, such as Lookout Mountain and Louisville, and spend a lot more time at the big ones well the big one.

Chicago.

Over the past several months we were trying to plan a vacation (unsuccessfully) to either visit Chicago or New York City and thought this would be a great opportunity to come to a city I have missed since I left some ten years ago.

I’m really glad we chose Chicago.  As soon as I saw the city Skyline I remembered how great a city it was.  Seeing the Sears Tower (now known as Willis Tower) and John Hancock tower from the distance is a powerful moment.  Well it was for me anyway, probably because I’m a very visual person.

Anyway we checked into the Hyatt Regency on the “Magnificent Mile” and left as soon as we checked in to our rooms.  Now this really shows our excitement because we just finished a 12 hour drive and were exhausted.  Well that and I had an appointment at the Apple Store and needed to go there on time to have my phone looked at. (They replaced my iPhone BTW… I love Apple)  :)

After the Apple Store we wanted to head to Lou Manalti’s for a deep dish pizza, upon Umar and Emily’s suggestion.  While we wanted to go there it was a little farther than we could walk at the moment.

So we decided to go to Uno’s Pizzeria, another suggestion by Umar and Emily.  It was a great pizza place and the atmosphere made it that much better.  The cool thing about Uno’s is that they take your order while you are waiting in line.  They said they do this because it takes them about 45 minutes to an hour to make the pizza.  We ordered a medium Veggie-Lovers pizza.  Lindsey wanted to order a small and I thought a medium would be better because we hadn’t eaten for over 9 hours and were staving. Needless to say, Lindsey was right and I will not live it down.

I ate one slice and the remainder of Lindsey’s because Lindsey couldn’t even finish her slice.  The Pizza was huge but was so good.  I really wanted to try my hand at another slice but I couldn’t do it.

Well enjoy the pictures and know we were thinking of all of you.

I took this image while we took the Chicago Bus Tours. I only had a second to take it because the bus was moving.

A couple eats on the patio of Uno's Pizzeria. Although it doesn't look it many of their belongings almost flew away with the wind.

A slice of Uno’s pizza. Since we hadn’t eaten for the whole day we decided we would be able to finish or at least put a dent in a large pizza. We both only ate one slice.
