Vancouver Day II: Bread Garden, Street Performer and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Company

On our second day in Vancouver we hit the ground running since we were all so tired the day before from the trip here.  We woke up early in the morning and went to get some breakfast.  The original plan was to hit up Café Crepes and grab a sweet or savory Crepe and munch on that as we walk to the Sky Train in Pacific Center Station and hit up the mall.  I had to go to the Apple Store in Oakridge Mall to replace the battery on my Macbook.  Apparently 350 battery cycles is a lot for a laptop just over a year old, but I digress.

So as Lindsey and I start walking to look for the Café Crepe, we saw another Craperie that was closed and mistook it for Café Crepe and thought that it hadn’t open yet.  Well it all worked out quite well as we found another restaurant to eat some breakfast called Bread Garden.  Although it didn’t seem like a chain restaurant at all, it is one of Vancouver’s own chain restaurants and is still only focused on local franchising.  Bread Garden was a really neat place, it had sofas and small tables to enjoy a nice coffee or some tea.  I had a Cinnamon Bun with a Chai Tea Latte and Lindsey had a Croissant also with a Chai Tea Latte.  I really liked my breakfast but I knew it was going to be kind of a heavy breakfast so I only ate a little bit, but it was still really good food.

After Breakfast we decided to go back to our normal plans of doing some shopping, since we live in the tundra where there are no good clothing shops.  So we jumped on the Sky Train and made our way down to Oakridge Mall, do some shopping and the errands I had to run at Apple and head back.  On our way back to the hotel we went through Granville Street and saw a crowd of people surrounding a man, so we decided to take a look at it and he was balancing things on his nose.  I thought it was so neat that he balanced a shoe on his nose and then a huge unicycle on his chin.

Our last stop before getting to our hotel was hitting up a chocolate store called Rocky Mountain Chocolate Company on Robson Street.  We had walked passed there when we were checking in to our hotel the day before but since we had our luggage with us we couldn’t go in, so this was our chance to take a look and, wow was it was amazing.  They had so many different types of  candied apples, from Smores-covered to chocolate and caramel dipped apples.  I got two Milk Chocolate Turtles and didn’t even know what to do in the store but eventually she got a milk chocolate truffle, or two, or three… Maria decided to get some Vanilla Bean ice cream.

Well that was our adventure for our second afternoon, the rest of the day will be put up in a subsequent post.

Enjoy the images.

  2. Dude, Bread Garden was the shiz. Fresh buttered croissants make an early morning easier to handle. And I love how all the photos Hassan posts of me revolve around food. I’m such a fat kid.

LOL, at least you don’t have a pot belly, two broken arms, and a pair of shoes on Rindzee.

Yeah Hassan, that’s what I thought…otherwise, I was going to have to force-choke you!
