Yesterday I was bored and decided to leave the house. It was raining all day and it was a complete drag, but then again this is Vancouver… So rain is to be expected. So I did what I usually do. Hope on the Skytrain and go to some stop, get out and explore and that is what I did. I got off at the Waterfront station again and this time I decided to head to a different exit from the one I used the last time I came to this station. I walked out and I saw what reminded me of State Street in Wisconsin or Downtown Athens, Georgia. It was such a neat place. There were so many great restaurants and many persian and oriental rug shops. It is definitely a place I will be visiting with Lindsey.
I just really fell in love with the atmosphere. People walking, couples holding hands (I really missed Lindsey…) and amazing view of the mountains. There was also the occasional homeless person asking for money, but I lived in Atlanta and went to Georgia State University, so that wasn’t really a big deal.
The more I see Vancouver the more I fall in love with it. There is just something about this city that is hard to describe. Hopefully I will find out what that is soon…
Well enjoy the images and comment if you like them!
P.S. the boat image, running and other aerial images are not from Gastown they were taken on the way to the Yaletown skytrain station.

A father teaches his daughter how to ride a bicycle. It was all too cute. The father had to repeatedly grab her handle bars to steer her properly.

A really neat design for the Canada Mail post box and the guy behind it waiting for the bus. I liked the colors in both.

Four children playing in the park right outside my room. I wasn't in the room when I took this photo.
Dood, VC looks like da hawt fiyah!!
It is Rok, you guys need to come visit! I’m so excited about calling this place my new home.
I’ll consider it…but on the downside, ya’ll ain’t got a Medival Times! How can you be a No. 4 best city to live in without one of those!
Hassan, if you wanna meet some of the NPAC people … check out Steamworks (on Thursdays evening)
very near where the following photo was taken:

You know it’s true… No Medival Times is probably what took it down to 4th… Auckland… I bet they have Medival Times…
Thanks Jack,
I’m actually headed back to Alberta for three weeks and when I return I will definitely be there. It would be nice to talk to other photographers.
Thanks for the comment!

Hi
I thought I’d let you know the boat pictures you have are dragon boats. They’re canoes that hold 22 people and there is a big international dragon boat festival here in Vancouver every June, called Rio Tinto Alcan.
It’s a lot of fun but just as much work. Try it some time!
Thanks Karyn,
They looked so neat, and now that you mention it I remember reading about the Dragon Boat Festival but fail to connect the dots in this case. I was envisioning a boat that looks more like a dragon. :) Lesson learned, I’m definitely going to check it out!
Thanks for clarifying that for me.
