I forgot, but the dog ate my homework… Err… Anyway, glad I’m out of school, there were only so many times I would use those lines, although they never worked. I have such a huge backlog of images that I’ve neglected to post. Each day I kept adding more photos and each day the task felt bigger to accomplish. Except today. So I came home and finished up a bit of administrative work and decided this is it, I’m going to post the photos I’ve been neglecting for so long.

So I have. These photos include our trip form Fort McMurray to Vancouver. Most of the pictures can’t adequately fit into more specifics, so, this is just a random album.

I miss these days, getting up early and being outside in the cool summer-morning breeze. Got this picture when I was on my way to the UBC Bus Loop from St. John’s College.

I love contrast when I comes to photos, not talking about the high-contrats fashion shoots, but contrast in a more black and white photo and so that is why I liked this photo. I got to work a little bit early and I was walking on Granville Street and saw two guys clearing our a former restaurant. That wasn’t what drew me, it was the silhouettes that made this photo for me.

I love the night feel of this photo, while it was shot on a very sunny morning, and not super early morning but around 9AM. That is what I loved about this photo. It offers some confusion, especially when converted to B&W.

During the sunset a few days ago, Lindsey and I went to Jericho Park. While we were there I got a picture of a duckling lit by the amber sunset light. I couldn’t stay long to take many more, the territorial ducks were very prevocational toward me…

This shot almost felt like a movie to me. I love how the sun shined through the grass, but also how it lights the grass itself.

I love this photo of Lindsey. It was one that I found as I went back through the last shoot. This goes to show you that you may find a great photo, even after you think you are done with an event.

I thought this photo was pretty fun, not only because of the water, but the colors of the fire hydrant really help give that summer fun feel.

Got this photo a few nights ago at the Festival of Lights. This one was hosted by China. Definitely the best firework display I have seen. It made me realize how much I missed by not witnessing the other countries that hosted the festival this year.

Motion makes moments is how I like to think of it. The sway of the crowd past the cop made this photo for me. It almost feels like the situation is a lot worse than it actually is. I remember when I took this photo that people were all laughing and having a good time, but this photo doesn’t convey any of that attitude.

I know I’ve shown this image before. Probably in the past day or two, but I really like it so I think it is worth another show. Shadows, lines, motion and flares are some elements that create my favorite environments to shoot in. This photo has so many of the aforementioned elements. I love how the morning sun just cuts part of the Arts center in separate segments. Then you add the young lady running across and and there you have it. A photo that looks like it belongs to another era, okay maybe it would if I made it B&W.

Another photo by the Vancouver Arts Gallery. This was taken when I left work a few days ago. I was leaving and the first thing that caught my eyes was the color of the ground, wherever the sun touches. Then after that I looked at the silhouetted couple talking in front of the water fountain. Those two aspects drew me in.

This man is obviously a highly-skilled artist. I’ve seen him make various legendary works, including the works of Rembrandt and Di Vinci, he also made a portrait of President Obama. But anyway I love the couple that is watching him paint here.

I’m so glad I used my 50mm for this shot, it wouldn’t have looked the same had it been shot with the 24-70.

On our trip from Fort McMurray we drove through Jasper National Park and that is where we found these guys. The were just hanging out on the shoulder of the highway as cars were passing them by, a few even sat down to watch people, I thought that was ironic.

This was one of the peaks were drove in Jasper National Park. I don’t have much to say about this photo, other than I thought the mountains in Canada are absolutely breathtaking.

Another photo of mountains, but this one has a more moody feel to it. Probably from the ominous clouds in the sky.

This was a photo I took when my Mom was making me Kashmiri Chai. If you haven’t ever had it, it is amazing. Just take my word for it. Starbucks can suck it! Hassan OUT!

Took this shot outside my parents house in Fort Mac. I always adored the lines my parents house created during sunset so one particularly beautiful night I went out and got this photo. Just to keep this in perspective, I took this photo at 11PM at night.

This always makes me smile and then feel sorry for the cute/sad dog. I don’t really know much of what to say to the fella but I did manage to freeze this photo. Every time I see this photo I think about how sad this pup was and how much he just wanted to come out to the party.

This photo really got me. Lindsey and I were heading to the Peter Pond Mall in Fort Mac and I saw these two kids pretending to be driving or flying planes, either way, they were going places. So anyway, thse are but some of the images from the past month and half. Lesson: don’t procrastinate!!

Broadway and Subway

On the way home from work today I decided it was time for a change. I need to take more photos everyday. So with that said, I can talk about the day. I took a couple of cool shots today after work. I was on the skytrain and as I was leaving the Broadway station (Also cambie street), I got a skateboarder on doing some tricks on the ground level of the skytrain station. And then immediately to my left I got another neat shot. This is how it came about. I finished shooting the two shots of the skate broader and then to my left I see a good bit of people crossing the street, I always love shooting people walking on streets, but the thing that was different about this shot was the following; it had the sun glaring a beam of light down half the frame and it caught people in light. So that is what made that photo for me.

Anyway thats it for today. I’ll post again soon.

So playing frisbee is fun and I love it when someone snatches the frisbee in mid air one handed or any other, even the elusive laydown stomach snatch. Okay back on topic, so yeah, after dinner tonight I went out and played… err… threw? a? frisbee? You know what I mean. There was some frisbeeing, if you will. So yeah, Me, Arun, Asad, Lindsey and Stephan went out to the courtyard threw it around. We had a great time after the frisbeeing so we decided to play some Uno.

Good times, but it is sad that I don’t have audio of our time together. Pictures don’t do it justice.

Yaletown and Urban Fare

A few weeks ago Lindsey and I went to Urban Fare in Yaletown and afterwards we decided to do some walking. I was very fascinated with the area, since I hadn’t seen it before. What truly amazes me about Vancouver is that we see people outside and having fun all the time.

Courtyard Croquet

Last week wonderful St. John’s friends invited us to play some croquet, well actually we just invited ourselves, but just pretend it was the former. And so we, Lindsey and myself, seized on this opportunity to try to learn this game. It was definitely an interesting experience. I loved the concept of having a hammer and hitting things, yes destruction makes me happy, although only when it doesn’t involve lawsuits. Anywho, I had such a great time watching everyone play croquet, Lindsey and I decided that we would join next time and there are pictures to show that. So stay posted and you shall see more. Night Time In Vancouver and the hunger that motivates

A few weeks ago I went out to get some food and decided to make the trip to the Japadog in downtown Vancouver. It was a Saturday night so Vancouver was as lively as ever. What fascinated me the most was the lights and colors you see when you are doing night photography, especially when there is a mix of rain on the streets. The pictures I got form this trip were pretty amazing. I particularly loved the colors around the Japadog area. So I snapped a few and went about my way, although you can already guess that I did get a hotdog first, it was pretty good, although I’m actually not a huge fan of Japadog, it is nice but I’ll take a regular hotdog anyday. With that being said, I think I should add that I don’t eat hotdogs very often, although if you read my blog you would probably think differently.

Brownopoly, reverse colonialism never felt so good.

So Lindsey and I just got back from Brownopoly, or as the rest of the world knows it as Monopoly: India Edition. Though I wasn’t playing (Lindsey was playing, I got to, well, snap pictures) I did get to partake in a few decisions with Lindsey… Yes, we still lost.

There were many rivalries, like Pearl not selling the one property she owned to Arun, who didn’t have a complete set for that very same reason. Katie and Asad, played together and won. Nooshin, Pearl and Arun had probably some of the funniest conversations. Brownopoly was a complete success. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see the negotiations skills of Stephan. That would have made the game that much better.

We (Asad, Pearl, Katie, Arun, Lindsey, Me, Jen, Stephan, Nooshin (Don’t kill me if I misspelled your name)) All had such a great time. Okay I know this is a really short entry but I have to be up pretty early for work so I’m going to leave it at this for the moment. I’ll probably add a little bit more tomorrow.

Critical Mass in Vancouver

Last Friday I was doing some “work” at Blenz Coffee on Granville and W. Broadway, okay I was just surfing the net and drinking coffee, but in this day and age how can that not be considered work? Well back to what I was saying. As I decided to head home, I came out of Blenz and saw many cyclists, lined up at the red light. I figured it was Critical Mass, although I’m not positive on that. I snapped a few pictures and went about my way. There were many police officers but they seemed to be enjoying the ride with everyone else.

Vancouver Blogger Meetup

On my sixth day in Vancouver I decided to be proactive in finding people who have like interests. I didn’t know anyone and this I thought would be the perfect way to cheat and make people know me. You all were schemed in to befriending me! So I jumped on Meetup.com, a social network site for meeting people with similar interests, and found the Vancouver Blogger Meetup. I decided who better to get to know then the people who love writing about a certain aspect of this wonderful city. And I was right.

These are just some of the people I met and some on the list I didn’t get to meet, unfortunately. They were all a wonderful bunch and I really enjoyed chatting with everyone.
